Files & FTP

File manager

Files is a full web file manager for the server’s web roots.

  • Navigate with the folder tree and breadcrumb.
  • Upload by drag-and-drop (with a progress bar + completion toast), or click Upload; upload a .zip and Extract to move a whole site in one transfer.
  • Edit text files in the built-in editor; New File/Folder, Rename, Copy, Move, Download.
  • Compress / Extract archives.
  • Permissions — set octal modes (e.g. 644/755).
  • Bulk delete — tick checkboxes (or Select all) and the Delete button removes everything selected at once.

Set the max upload size at install time (ORBIX_MAX_UPLOAD_MB); if the web server also caps body size, raise client_max_body_size to match.

FTP / SFTP accounts

FTP creates file-transfer accounts for users who prefer a client (FileZilla, etc.).

  1. FTP → Create account — set the username, password, and the home directory (the account is chrooted to it, so it can’t escape that folder).
  2. Give the credentials to the user with:
    • Host: your server’s hostname/IP
    • Port: 21 (FTP/FTPS) or 22 (SFTP)
    • Protocol: prefer SFTP or FTPS (encrypted) over plain FTP.
  3. Change password or delete the account anytime.

For deploying app code without FTP, use Git deploy or the file manager’s zip-upload + extract.
