Monitor your server's CPU, memory, and disk

Most outages give warning signs — creeping memory, a disk filling up, one site eating CPU. Watching resources turns “the site is down” into “let’s fix this before anyone notices.”

What OrbixPanel shows

OrbixPanel surfaces resource usage in the dashboard, including per-tenant / per-site CPU, memory, and storage — so you can see which site is responsible, not just that the server is busy. Package-driven caps and an editable alert threshold let you get notified when a site crosses a limit. See the admin reference: Monitoring & alerts.

The three to watch

ResourceHealthyWarning sign
CPUspikes that settlesustained high load (load average > CPU count)
Memorysteady with headroomcreeping up, swapping, apps killed (OOM)
Diskwell under capacityclimbing toward full — logs/backups/uploads

Quick manual checks

From the web terminal:

Terminal window
top # live CPU/memory by process (Shift+M = sort by memory)
free -m # memory free/used
df -h # disk per mount

Deep dive: disk & memory and high CPU/memory.

Set alert thresholds

Don’t rely on remembering to check. Set a threshold (e.g. disk > 85%, or a site over its memory cap) so OrbixPanel tells you — then you investigate on your schedule, not during an outage.

Turn signals into action

  • Disk filling → clear logs/old backups, move backups offsite.
  • One site hot → profile it; add caching or DB indexes.
  • Consistently maxed → you’ve outgrown the box; size up.
