Create a MySQL database and user on OrbixPanel
Most apps need a database and a user that can access it. OrbixPanel creates both in a few clicks.
Create the database
- Open the Databases area in the panel.
- Create a database and give it a name (e.g.
myapp). - Create a database user with a strong password.
- Grant that user access to the database.
That’s the standard trio every app expects: a database name, a username, and a password.
Your connection details
With MySQL/MariaDB on OrbixPanel, apps on the same server connect over localhost:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Host | 127.0.0.1 (or localhost) |
| Port | 3306 |
| Database | the name you chose |
| Username / Password | the user you created |
Database users are created for localhost access — your app and the database live on the same server, so the port never needs to be exposed to the internet. That’s a security feature, not a limitation.
Use it in your app
Put these values in your app’s config as environment variables, never hard-coded. See Connect your app to a database for per-framework examples.
Manage tables & data
For creating tables, running queries, or importing a .sql file, open
phpMyAdmin from the panel — see
Import & export a MySQL database.
Tip: use a separate database + user per app. If one app is compromised, the blast radius stays contained to its own data.
