Make WordPress fast on OrbixPanel
WordPress is quick when it’s set up well and slow when it isn’t. Work down this list — the items near the top give the biggest gains for the least effort.
1. Use a modern PHP version + OPcache
This is the single biggest win. Set the site to PHP 8.x and enable OPcache — see PHP version & OPcache.
2. Add a caching plugin
Install a page-cache plugin (e.g. WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, or LiteSpeed Cache). Page caching serves most visitors a static HTML copy instead of running PHP + database on every hit.
3. Turn on Redis object cache
OrbixPanel ships with Redis running on the server. Point WordPress at it for a persistent object cache (fewer repeated database queries):
- Install a plugin like Redis Object Cache.
- Add to
wp-config.php:define('WP_REDIS_HOST', '127.0.0.1');define('WP_REDIS_PORT', 6379); - Click Enable Object Cache in the plugin.
See Use Redis to cache your app for the general pattern.
4. Front-end basics
- Right-size images. Don’t upload 4000px photos for a 600px slot. Use an image-optimization plugin.
- Fewer plugins. Every active plugin adds work. Remove what you don’t use.
- A lean theme. Bloated page builders are a common slowdown.
5. Keep it updated & backed up
Update core, themes, and plugins (OrbixPanel surfaces security advisories for the stack underneath), and keep automated backups so you can experiment safely.
